Habit 4: Think Win-Win

Sean Walsh, the Co-Founder of 1904labs, explains that life is not a zero sum game. We can all “win”, and he describes ways to make that happen in life and in business.

TRANSCRIPT:
Yeah, I mean basically the win-win is the notion of abundance that you know I don’t have to…for me to win, you don’t have to lose.

I’ve been in an awful lot of corporations that do not embrace win-win, because there’s a lot of people that for some reason don’t embrace the idea that I can win and you can win.

And so you know this notion of if you are in a win-lose culture, for me to win, you have to lose. What else you know? How you gonna collaborate in that kind of environment?

So it’s incredibly important for us to get people to understand that we can both win. And in fact, if we don’t both win, we’re not gonna have a durable agreement of any sort, because if I’m doing work for a client, and the client’s getting what they need, but the expense of our teams, that’s not sustainable, because those people are gonna go elsewhere.

So I it’s important when we talk to the clients you know we need to create arrangements that are sustainable. That you get what you need but in a way that our employees get what they need as well. Because it’s in our best interest.

And it and it is achievable, which you know these other organizations that I no longer I’m glad I’m no longer part of, that was not always the case. And however intuitive it is, it’s not practiced.

There’s a lot of win-lose out there, and it’s not gonna be the way it is here at 1904labs.
